Dear Ms. Mamata,
Kerala trip (25 Feb’15 – 02 Mar’15)
After enjoying our Kerala trip, we returned back yesterday. As discussed on telephone,
I am giving below my feedback on the package arranged by you:
Hotel Silver Tips, Munnar: The ambiance of the hotel and the facilities provided
including the quality of the food in dinner and breakfast were excellent. The staff
was very cooperative and took all care to look after the guests and meet their requirements.
Hotel Spice Grove Thekkadi: Though the ambiance of the hotel was excellent, the
quality of the facilities provided and the food served was just the O. K., though
much inferior to what we got in Munnar. The hotel is situated about 15 kms before
Thekkadi Pariyar lake and involved an extra 30 kms of road mileage.
Hotel Deshadan Backwater Resort: This Resort is located 25 away from the Bird Sanctuary
from where motor boat/houseboat/canoe is available to enjoy the beauty of the Lake.
We had started from Thekkadi hotel nearabout 8.30 AM and reached the Sanctuary at
about 12 PM and the driver told us to take the boat ride first and thereafter, proceed
to the hotel. He also told us that if we go to the Resort first and come back to
the Sanctuary in the afternoon, it would involve an extra 50 Kms and this was likely
to exceed the limit of 800 Kms and we shall have to pay extra. Since were tired
by that time and the weather was too hot at that time, we told him to take us to
the Hotel first for checking in. Though the boat facility was available in the Resort
also, it was very expensive and therefore we decided to enjoy the beauty of the
Lake from the Resort itself.
Reg. the Resort, its ambiance and location is very good. However, the room furnishings
and facilities provided and the quality of the food served is very ordinary, giving
me an impression that its rating should be 3 Star instead of 4 Star.
Hotel Abbam: This is a newly built hotel. The ambiance of the Hotel and the facilities
provided including room furnishings are very good. However the food varieties and
the taste of the food served was just the ordinary.
Transport: The Driver Joshi was waiting for us at the airport. He was always punctual
and well behaved and was very helpful in local sight seeing.
General: In Thekkadi we were keen for going on a spice garden tour and wanted to
make purchases of some spices. The driver suggested to us to visit Periyar Spice
and Ayurvedic Garden which was located a few kms before our Hotel. Accepting his
suggestion we visited this Garden where the Entry fee was Rs. 100 per person. The
spice garden tour in this Garden comprised of visit to about 20 plants/trees grown
in a very small portion of the Garden. We also made some purchases of the spices
from the Sales outlet of this Garden. Later on, after visiting local market, we
found that the prices charged in the above Garden for various spices were at least
25% expensive. Besides, for the purchases made, they had not issued any regular
printed bill. We got a feeling that it was not a genuine place and it was simply
cheating people, probably in connivance with the drivers.
On the whole, we enjoyed our trip at various places very well.
Regards,
K. R. Gupta
